The Vice-ministry of Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education supports the formulation and adoption of policies, plans and projects related to preschool, primary and secondary education, middle technical education at official and private levels, and minority population in the country.
Similarly, this unit is responsible for directing, coordinating and promoting, under the National Development Plan, the consolidation, development and implementation of the components of the educational system within their levels of competence, in key points of coverage, quality, relevance and efficiency.
The Vice-ministry of Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education was created as part of the organizational structure of the Ministry of National Education, with the reform that was introduced with Decree 2230 of 2003 and Decree 5012 of 2009
